Forever in Blue Jeans………….

I love pressies when they come looking like this – and when the actual time to use them comes I love them even more 🙂

A darling daughter combined Christmas and Birthdays and gifted this event to me and The Golfer

image

imageSo we couldn’t not go could we 🙂

The stage looked good – even when the rest of the crowd turned up.

image

imageAnd – even better still when the man of the moment arrived!

image image‘What a beautiful noise’
Loud ones – soft ones – fast ones – slow ones – we loved them all
It’s the sound that we love even more when sung in person in front of a mostly ‘mature age’ audience who loved it all first time round.

imageAn evening with Mr Diamond, what more could anyone want, with ‘Sweet Caroline’ being one of the encore numbers we all went home singing and feeling good (plus wondering where those 40 odd years went to)

image

That was Tuesday evening and here it is Friday morning and I’m still humming away while I think about doing the washing – and the blue jeans I wore are in the pile.

Some well known facts…..

As soon as I put something in my mouth someone, namely The Golfer, will ask me a question and then point a camera in my direction lol

My mother taught me  ‘It’s rude to talk with your mouth full’ hence The Look 🙂image

If you leave some food for others there’s always a chance there’ll be more for you – if they aren’t that hungry that is 🙂

image

Doesn’t matter what shape or colour these pretty little things are – if they taste good in your mouth you can be sure they are bad for you lol

image

And it doesn’t matter what form chocolate comes in – it will make you feel good 🙂

Full of the Joys of Spring

Spring came to visit today – she brought her friend ‘Joy’ with her as well 🙂

It was such a great day, so different to the ferociously hot ones we had early in the month or ‘back to Winter’ cold ones that came with the cool change, both of which seemed to be accompanied with really strong winds.  Today was still, warm and sunny, pleasant temperatures (overnight 10c/50f going up to about 21c/nearly 70f) with not a cloud in the sky.  No need for the bistro blinds and no need for the shade blinds either lol

Determined to make full use of it I wandered down to the park – I’m embarrassed to say my first walk since we got home last month.  Today could be the start of something big – like a change of attitude!

Anyway there were so many others out and about, dogs and children along with adults of all shapes and sizes, smiles on faces, heads up acknowledging others as they walked past I began to wonder if ‘Joy’ had been been working overtime during the night weaving her happiness and energy spell all over the neighbourhood.  Even the mumma ducks in the pond were looking around ready to say ‘hello’ and introduce their little ones to anyone who came near 🙂

Most of the photos were taken from afar – so click to enlarge

But that feeling of ‘Joy’, that energy and happiness, was best displayed by this Border Collie I saw off to one side in the ‘off leash’ area of the reserve.  ‘He’ is calm but seems to knows something good is going to happen.

Sitting and waiting – anticipating

image

And here is the moment he has been waiting for

image

So from now on there should be no excuses for me not to get up and go

That happiness and energy spell

aka ‘The Joys of Spring’ is here to stay for a while

I shall think like the Collie

Approach with enthusiasm, Anticipate the pleasure, and Enjoy 🙂

Home alone on a Monday……

Yes, I’ve been home alone for the long weekend, the weekend of various Grand Final Football matches as well as various international matches. and the weekend the clocks do their annual ‘fall forward’ routine.  The Golfer is interstate for a volunteer comittment and I have been enjoying the freedom of being able to do what I like when I like with no questions asked lol

Mostly it’s been time spent outside enjoying some great Spring weather but also thinking and wondering about things.  Like how to get up and change the time on the wall clock and that mystery of mystery, how to change the time on the microwave – or how to cut off a tree branch that’s been bothering me and needs someone with a bit more muscle to do it – or how do I finish (without going to the shops) a small knitted cardigan with only one needle of the only set I had in that size (having sat on and broken the other plastic one) 😦

Wondering why we don’t wear our comfy well worn rubber thongs/flip flops to the shops – I always think of them as ‘house/garden/beach shoes’ and that’s where they should stay

image

Wondering why this Australian King Parrot who turned up early one recent morning chose to spend time on the roof beam instead of the nearby trees

More Monday Musings and Monday Memories
Also wondering why I can’t get the words to a song out of my mind.

There Must Be A Way sung by Joni James 1959
Words and Music by ~ Sammy Gallop, David Saxon and Robert Cook

Back in 1959 when it was re-released in the UK (Joni James version) I was a heartbroken 16yr old because I’d been ‘dumped’ by a really nice boy and I ‘related’ to every word of the lyrics. That memory popped into my mind recently when listening to a radio discussion on ‘young people and their love lives’ and reappeared the other day when I was wandering about telling myself ‘ there must be a way’ to do that branch 🙂

Enjoy and reminisce over those teenage years with me

There must be a way to help me forget that we’re through
There must be a way to stop me from dreamin’ of you
There must be a star in the skies that isn’t reflecting your eyes
I just don’t know how to disguise how much I miss you

There must be a song that doesn’t remind me of you
There must be a kiss that’ll thrill me like yours used to do
I look for a way to be happy, happy with somebody new
Oh, there must be a way but I can’t find a way without you

There must be a way to help me forget that we’re through
There must be song that doesn’t remind me of you
I look for a way to be happy, happy with somebody new
Oh there must be a way but I can’t find the way without you

How’s your Monday going?  Hope it’s a good one for you when it arrives.
I also hope to do some ‘visiting’ this week, see you soon.

Friday Fun with The Barman and The Rabbit

My goodness here it is Friday again – time for a laugh
I’ve been going through my original blog from years ago
and found this for today
Hope you like it

The Barman and The Rabbit

A rabbit walks into a pub and says to the barman,

‘I’d like a pint of beer and a Ham and Cheese Toastie please’

The barman in amazed but gives the rabbit the pint of beer and the Ham and Cheese Toastie

The rabbit drinks down the beer and eats the toastie.  He then leaves.

The following night the rabbit returns and again asks for a pint of beer and Ham and Cheese Toastie.

The barman who is now very intrigued with this rabbit once again serves up the pint and the toastie.  Once again the rabbit consumes them and leaves.

The next night word had got around and the pub was packed.

In walks the rabbit and says ‘a pint of beer and a Ham and Cheese Toastie please barman’

The crowd is hushed as the barman gives the rabbit his pint and the toastie and then bursts into applause as the rabbit wolfs them down.

The next night there is standing room only in the pub, coaches have been laid on for the crowds of patrons attending.

The barman is making more money in one week than he did all the previous year

In walks the rabbit and as before says ‘a pint of beer and a Ham and Cheese Toastie please barman’

This night the barman says, ‘I’m sorry rabbit old mate, old mucker, but we are right out of them Ham and Cheese Toasties’

The rabbit looks aghast.

The crowd had quietened down to almost a whisper when the barman clears his throat nervously and says ‘We do have a very nice Cheese and Onion toastie’

The rabbit looks him in the eye and says, ‘Are you sure I will like it?’

The masses bated breath is ear shatteringly silent!

The baman with a roguish smile says,

‘Do you think i would let down one of my best friends? I know you will like it’

Ok, says the rabbit,  ‘I will have a pint of beer and a Cheese and Onion Toastie please’

The pub erupts with glee as the rabbit quaffs the beeer and guzzles down the toastie

He then waves to the crowd and leaves …. never to retrun

One year later in the now impoverished public house the baman (who has only served 4 drinks that night, 3 of which were his own) calls time.

When he is cleaning down the now empty bar he sees a small white form floating above the bar

The barman says ‘Who are you?’

The answer came back

‘I am the ghost of the rabbit that used to frequent your public house’

The barman says – ‘I remember you.  You made me famous.

You would come in every night and have a pint of beer and a Ham and Cheese Toastie.  Masses came to see you and this place was famous’

The rabbit said, ‘Yes I know’

The barman then said, ‘I remember on your last night we didn’t have any Ham and Cheeese toasties.  You had a Cheese and Onion one instead’

The rabbit said, ‘You promised me I would love it’

The baman said. ‘You never came back.  What happened ?’

‘I DIED’  said the rabbit.

‘NO’ said the barman ‘What from?’

After a short pause the rabbit replied.
