The inevitable question from ‘new acquaintances’ before we leave home to come up here…..
So what do you do?
As little as possible!
Well last week, when I’d not been out enjoying ‘coffee and cake’

Or enjoying my morning quiet time at family friendly Rose Bay….
Where it’s just been school holidays so I was entertained – at a distance – by…
Little kids enjoying the waves….
Slightly bigger kids enjoying a game of beach cricket…..
And even bigger kids inspired by Qld’s win in the deciding State of Origin game….
You might have found me back at the cabin safely wrapped up in my favourite blanket enjoying coffee, biscuits and a book….
because back at the van park, away from the sheltered space at Rose Bay, those blue skies along with the sunshine might have looked very inviting but there was a definite nip in the wind. It might look cool in the shade but as there was no breeze blowing through the little patio that day I was cosy and warm
Forecast for this week coming – cool nights – pleasant days
Looking good!
(Saturday night went down to 9°c/48f… just a fraction too cool 🙁)
Also fingers crossed the ‘workers’ in the Telstra & NBN vans I’ve seen running around the place have done their jobs properly and reception will be improved

There are reasons we return each year – that’s one of them 😎
Won’t be long before you’re on the road again!

Even when there are others around it never seems to get crowded and yes, there’s a lovely peaceful feel about the place

Those first two high to low photos reveal a pretty charming location.

Bowen (and its beaches) is a ‘hidden gem in the Whitsundays. Rose Bay is just one of eight here – each one a little bit different to the other – each has its own special feel

I fall in love with the little town (and her beaches) each time we come back Kat. I know I grizzle when it’s cool but it’s definitely better than at home (at the moment)

I suppose there are people who get bored without work, and when on holidays, but I don’t really understand that. The little bay looks lovely.

Boredom never makes an appearance in my life Andrew….at home or away.
I tell those people that they would probably be happier going to the Gold Coast than up here

It’s winter here F….same as at your place- and mine down in Victoria. Just a little bit warmer than those places. I’m becoming more like a local and find it cool when that southerly wind blows

We called beach cricket “rounders” and played so much of it when I was a child.
Some lovely shots there.
And there is never enough time in the hols I always feel.

You brought back some memories there WWW of playing rounders at school England 1950s. Bats similar to baseball bats while the bowler threw the ball underarm. Definitely a different game to cricket

Sounds like bliss!! I visited Bowen when I was very young – all I remember is the terry towelling hat that Mum bought for me with “Bowen” stitched on it and the fact that it disappeared at our small school and the shock that someone I knew must have taken it when it was so obviously mine.

Oh that wasn’t fair was it Jeannie- especially in a small community. Where would they have worn it without it being recognised?

You have the best ideas – coffee and cake, doing as little as possible, and being cozy in the cabin. What a beautiful place – Rose Bay – even the name is gorgeous. Enjoy.
