🧶 Last of the season â€¦..

‘Want to come for a drive….
’What today….
’Yes, I need to go down The Bay…
’What today….
’Yes, I need to go to a golf outlet in Dromana ….
’I’ll buy you lunch while we’re out….
’Say no more, what’s another drive in the rain in the last week of Autumn…. as long as you promise I’ll get to see the sea when we’re there….

We left home under cloudy damp skies and returned to those same cloudy damp skies

And true to his word I did get to see the sea
Under cloudy blue skies not a drop of rain to be seen
Just what I needed

And he did buy me lunch ~ sort of😊

My view of the sea (Port Philip Bay) from ‘our table’

I’m finishing off the last of those seasonal knits (for the time being). I have these three newborn cardigans (similar to the ones given to nephew recently) they just need some work done on the neckline then they’re also off – not to the charity as planned but to a friend’s new gt granddaughter. A ‘tiny wee baby’ so she said, which means they’ll last a while I replied- no she’ll grow into them was her reply. Reminded me of turning up hems and rolling under cuffs when mine were little.

And this has been the lucky last of my seasonal reads
Early Autumn – Louis Bromfield 1926

A really good well written read – well at least I thought so!

A family saga relating the goings on in the lives of a wealthy upper class family in post WW1 New England – too much for me to summarise. The wiki article sets it out better than I could ever do.

  1. What a delightful day trip! Those views are just so beautiful! Nice that The Golfer wanted some company! 🙂

When do you head to the warmer climes for your winter?

    1. It was great to have a change of scenery. One of those places that is so near and yet so far…..that gets crowded when the good weather arrives. We tend to go inland more than to the coast but I’m determined to change that
Talking of better weather- all being well we leave in a couple of weeks time.

    1. Life with The Golfer is hilarious at times. He’d gone for coffee and I seeing the brown paper bag thought he’d picked up a couple of sandwiches. ‘They wanted a fortune for two bits of bread and a filling!’ ‘The carrot cake looked more interesting and was better priced!’

  2. How nice to get out for a day trip. Those wee little cardigans are darling. Your comment about rolling up sleeves takes me back in time. Thanks for the tip on the book. It looks like something I might enjoy. Autumn is my favorite season.

    1. It was an interesting read Jane. One that told a story but delved quite deeply into the thoughts and actions of each of the characters. My ‘feelings’ about them changed from chapter to chapter

  3. perfect lunch – I’m sure it covered all the major (or most important) food groups – AND a view of the sea. Never say he doesn’t know how to show a girl a good time.
