🧶There’s always a ‘but what if’

Gathering ‘supplies’ to take away usually means I have to sit down and actually think about what I’d like to achieve.
With loads of leftovers I thought I’d take a big box …or rather, take some of it…..to use for more ‘coloured’ hats – but you know what happens with that idea…..making them is what I call a ‘spur of the moment’ craft…..deciding what to use means looking at what you have, then tossing it about and wondering if there’s enough of this or of that – and (as much as I’d like to) I can’t take it all (The Golfer packs the car so I can’t sneak more in – what’s this, do you need it, will you use it, is it coming back with us) so those annoying but what if thoughts keep rolling around my mind.

But what if – I don’t have enough of this/that/or the other, you can bet I’d be down the local shop looking for another contrast. Taking more leftovers home than I brought with me!.
But what if – I get fed up making the same things for that length of time

Then dear old Spotlight came to the rescue
(enter if you dare – keep a hold on your wallet if you do)

Large bags of mill ends reduced – sturdy winter coloured 8ply
great for kids easy to knit easy to wear guernseys and other winter wear.

So after time with hot chocolate, little Danish cookies
(and an assortment of pattern books).
plus Mother’s Day flowers that didn’t like the indoor heating

There is much more just like this – just right for Winter Woolies

Several likely designs were picked out….

….ones I’ve made before so there shouldn’t be any ‘But What If’s’
But then you never know😊

One thing I do know is 👇

Kat hosts a weekly link up called  Unraveled Wednesday . which features Reading Crafting Chatting – you’ll find it all there – no reading from me this week but look, why don’t you pop over, see what’s going on – maybe stay and say hello.

  1. Those are great kids pullovers patterns. What is the lacy piece in the midground of the ‘composition’? That looks interesting and I love the colours. I made a mobius scarf in colours not unlike that many years ago (some wool on a cone bought on ebay. Enjoy your winter away again – this must be the third of fourth winter I have followed you up to Queensland! Scary how the year rolls around again.

  2. It’s a scarf gifted to me quite a few years ago now. Lightweight (a bit heavier than 3ply) like a mohair but more solid in feel. A good length, not too wide, not overly long – fits under the collar on the outside of a gilet/jacket and hangs nicely (more decorative than ‘useful’ but warm at the same time). Good colours – warm but not too dark & wintery

  3. I have to wonder — is ‘packing the car JUST SO’ a gender thing? Because in my opinion, the whole point of driving (or at least a point of driving) is that you can pack whatever…however much…you want! I had to laugh, because those very questions sound so familiar. Oh, the things I’ve packed, the things I’ve brought home… If you want it badly enough, anything fits.

    Enjoy your journey!

    1. Packing a little car with everything we need/want/rather not buy when we arrive after a four day drive to spend 10 weeks away from home is best left to my dear one The Golfer. I’d certainly make a mess of it – seems weight must be distributed evenly to cope with outback roads – something to do with tyres and suspension.

There is plenty in the cabin we rent but books and craft are a must have (as well as someone’s golf clubs😊).

  4. I can’t believe you’re getting ready to go north again. It seems as if you only just got back. Where is the year going?

Love the scarf. I have a pattern for something similar (and some yarn, I think) packed away somewhere.

Isn’t it lovely to see kids wearing handknitted clothes again?

  5. May your planning and packing go well. The kids’ patterns look like fun and it’s a bonus to knit from previously used patterns. Packing up to head north sounds like quite an endeavor. Best wishes that all the right things get into the vehicle.

    1. Just starting to gather my thoughts and supplies together for a long stay away from home Jane, there’s a few weeks to go yet but they will pass quick as a flash and I’ll be running around like a headless chook trying to gather it all up.
