A couple of weeks ago I was āthinking about itā – then it was all change and I needed something easy and straightforward to take my mind of something else I was thinking about – so I started doing itā¦…again. Which means there are now two plain sleeves to go with the patterned front and I have begun the back. So come the winter an unknown 4yr old will be cosy and warm.
I did also pick through the soft coloured leftovers again
Iām sure (well, more like hoping) that if I keep plodding along making these simple, easy to knit baby hats that maternity wards like for newborns, one day Iāll find my box of white, cream and pale coloured oddments is empty – still got a long way to go before that happens thoā

Mother had a very large magnifying glass, not quite large enough for a paperback page. but as this is tiny that might be a solution.

I do have a flat āsheetā magnifier- looks like a piece of plastic that has magnifying āpropertiesā. Iāll see how I go with that

before you finish the last hat you find you have run out and need to buy more, and then you buy a whole bag in a charity shop because it is a particularly good deal (and they are a good cause), and the new stash is bigger than before and…..

I can read print that small on my computer because my cursor can steadily keep my place. But a book, I don’t know.

Well, one can but try – if it doesnāt work out and I canāt get a different version Iāll look for an online summary.

When my twins were born early and very small, the hospital put little mini beanies on them. I think I still have them somewhere. It was so good to have them because I didn’t have a single thing small enough.

There are those moments when the hands need to knit something familiar in order to soothe the soul. You are doing so much good with the baby knits. I am anxious to know how you like Beautiful Ruins. I have always meant to read that book.
