That’s what an old friend told me a couple of days ago –
– she’d been helping her granddaughter out over the past few weeks by minding a little gtgrandchild now and again so the granddaughter could take the older school age one out on occasional days by themselves. Dad left town a year ago, not heard of since, and seemingly our long summer holidays can be difficult for some single parents.
‘I love them dearly she said. . but oh dear my shoulders and knees aren’t too keen on rolling round on the floor with them’
Like my friend (as well as Noodle and Pals 😊) I’ve also been concentrating on ’ head shoulders knees and toes’ this past few weeks

Yes I’ve had fun sorting then choosing leftover bright colours to make more of the tiny trauma teddies I started at the start of the month.
Now it’s fill and finish time.
Here’s a couple I started finishing the other day.
Will get to the ‘eyes and ears and mouth and nose’ bit on the rest soon
But first there’s my tea and a few more pages chapters to finish
The Little Wartime Library – Kate Thompson (2023)
Today is the day Kat hosts Unraveled Wednesday .
Reading Crafting Chatting- you’ll find it all there – pop over, see what’s going on – maybe stay and say hello.
(And I’ve just noticed it’s the same table cloth as earlier in the month)

I could not get on my knees or shoulders for love nor money.
The little trauma teddies will do their job well. Live in someone’s pocket!

That’s where I’m hoping they’ll be Joanne – or clutched in their hands.
My friend is a good deal more nimble than you or I. She still runs, not bad for late 70s

Hi Cathy, my grandson is starting a new school going into Grade 5 and his little brother continues at the same school as last year going into Grade 1. They both had a wonderful first day so that’s a good start to the school year. x

It is/was such a good feeling knowing children enjoy school. Certainly makes life much easier for all the family. There’ll be the usual tv coverage here of preppies on their first day showing the confident ones as well as the ones who are a little bit clingy and tearful even.

Love the trauma teddies. These days I find getting to the ground (and up again) a big, big challenge.

I don’t think school across the ditch starts until around Feb 1st as NZ regions have a number of holiday weekends. Plus there is other national holiday weekends coming up.
love the catchy tune for Heads – Toes exercises

That used to be the way here as well Catherine (first week of February) then changes to the school year meant an earlier start meaning just before/after Australia Day (Jan 26).
Hope you’re becoming more settled in your new life

I have just been talking to my daughter and 12 yo granddaughter in England. The 12 yo is home sick from school. Then I saw your “School starts on Monday” and was momentarily VERY confused 😀

Oh yes the topsy turvy school system down under confuses those from the northern hemisphere.. . as well as those down here familiar with that one as well

No half term days off down here – something I found strange when we arrived all those years ago. I can imagine the longing for ‘good weather’ for days out during what is still winter. Enjoy it with the youngsters when it comes

She was a good grandma helping her daughter out when needed – now she’s helping the next generation.

There’s plenty more leftovers to be used up so there could be more made over the next few weeks. So easy to knit – such a pain to finish. But finishing is when the ‘personality’ appears

I’m exactly the same. I love them dearly but the body not so much
Thankfully as they get older there is less carrying around
Although Ana loves to play hide and seek and sometimes I have to do the hiding behind beds on the floor. Not so much fun getting up lol

There is a reason we have our children when we are young – and probably more than one. The little teddies look darling. I look forward to seeing them with faces.

lol I’ve thought that many a time over the years.
Teddies with faces will appear slowly. I really have to be in the mood to personalise them.
