it’s not really her fault

Tiggers Mum is on a short work related detachment to Singapore and I’ve been reliving old memories from when we lived there in the 1960s.
Katong was where we called home

And for some reason I just have a hankering for this – Katong Laksa

Two very fuzzy photos from recent visits to the home of Katong Laksa.

December 2013
November 2017

So it’s six years since our last time there
think we might be due for another trip 😊😎

    1. lol Jane – all my ‘exotic’ travel was courtesy of HM government. My father was a serviceman and I married a serviceman.
This was in the heyday of overseas postings – sadly as camps/bases were closed so the prospect of travel for dependents was closed down as well.

  1. My ex is Malaysian and it hurts my heart to know that I’ll probably never go there and eat all that amazing food ever again. If I get lucky enough to go, I won’t have people to taxi me to the best places!
I hope you go and get some great Katong laksa

    1. I would if I was you 😊. It’s on the corner of East Coast Road and Ceylon Road with a bus stop nearby. Stop no. 92111 I think it was.
Also there’s a fabulous Hindu temple ( Sri Senpaga VinayagarTemple) just a little way up Ceylon Road that’s ’worth a visit’

  2. Those dishes so loved when you eat them in their traditional surroundings somehow never taste the same elsewhere. You need the smells, sounds, atmosphere to make it right
You need a trip to Singapore! While Tiggers Mum is there 😄

    1. That’s true about atmosphere making the experience- which is why Laksa never enters my mind here in Australia – same as frappe coffees are Greek not Australian (even if they’re made by Greeks)

  3. It sounds like such a wonderful place. My daughter and son have been to Singapore with their families and told me it was pretty hot and humid.

Our son is in Malaysia with his family right now. You’re now making me want to go there too. My husband is sure eager to go.
