Three weeks of the New Year gone and I haven’t done much. . .
A bit of reading – some knitting- some ‘water walking – a little gardening- sorted the inside of my car out – watched some cricket- watched some tennis. . .
I’ve been a real Lazybones
But then that’s what these days are all about. .
And the weather – well, that’s something we all share worldwide isn’t it
Not sure what yours has been like but over this past three weeks let’s just say ours here in Victoria has been ‘changeable’. Changing from this to that almost at the drop of a hat
Dry sunny pleasant, hot humid, stormy, wet enough to flood plus cool enough to ‘put a jumper on’ – those were some of the days. We had hot humid nights needing maybe just a sheet and definitely the overhead fan as well as ones cool (cold!) enough for pjs not cotton nightie, pull all the blankets up and bring out the hot water bottle for my toes.
On one of those cool wet ones I even resorted to an afternoon delight
Forget Bed Book and Candle – it’s Bath Book and Coffee for me 😊
And a little edit here to think about our friends and bloggers in Far North Queensland who are wondering which part of their coastline Cyclone Kirrily will hit. Anywhere between Cardwell and Mackay is what’s forecast.
Anyway, I heard this the other day – Joe Brown with daughter Sam
A different take on an old Hoagy Carmichael song -Lazy Bones (1933)
This is the pace of summer I like – slow and easy

Mother Nature sure has been moody lately. Take each day as it comes. Not much else to do. You’re not being lazy. Your conserving energy

It has been a nice summer for me, aside from the flooding. It won’t last though. The heat will come.

We’ve had some hot ones Andrew and as you say there’ll definitely be more to come. As long as some cooler ones are in the mix we’ll survive

Your days sound similar to mine and any day there is cricket on TV is a good day! Melbourne sure sounds like it has been weather changeable. Our nights are similar minus the colder nights, I’d be delighted to get one like it!

Some days it’s great when a cool change comes through, others not so much because it feels so cold after the heat. You can tell I’m not a lover of cold can’t you 😊

Nothing wrong with being a lazy bones especially at this time of year, Cathy. It has been so hot and humid up here that I don’t feel like doing much at all either. x

Hopefully you won’t get too much ‘run off’ from the cyclone – humid wears me down as well. I often wonder how early female settlers coped up there with all the clothes they wore. I’m thinking maybe a few layers were removed and left off when the ladies were around the house

I wonder if our summer will be changeable. A few cool days in midsummer would be lovely .
Can totally understand why you would be a lazybones. Hot and humid saps all your energy.

I’ve had years of practicing Linda – have it down to a fine art now! Show me a chair/couch/seat of any sort and I’ll use it!

I have no doubt you have earned the right to spend your days exactly as you please.

We should all be a lazybones now and then. The bath and book reminds me of my Mom. I am the oldest of four. Now and then after the two youngest were in bed, my Mom would take her library book and get in a hot tub. I honestly think it might have been the only place where she could be completely alone.

Wet and windy in the UK at the moment. My Mum used to sing Lazybones to our cocker Spaniel Max. He even acquired the nick name Bones from the song. Thanks for the memory.

Hilariously I had a message from a UK friend last night who said “I know it’s feral where you live …” (I’m in SE Qld but currently on the Fraser Coast staying at my daughter’s) “but does it getr cold in Melbourne in the summer? I’m watching Neighbours and they have jumpers on.”

Lovely post…I sometimes forget I do not have to be productive…and to manage my health better I can S L O W down. We are in day one of 3 day heatwave and I am making adjustments to my days accordingly! Denyse x

After years of living in the fast lane I’m very happy in the slow on Denyse. Life with all its responsibilities is still there – just worked at more slowly – and some tasks are enjoyed more

there has been absolutely no need for a sweater or a blanket here across the ditch for the last few weeks. Yesterday and today, much calmer and more breeze – and very little “sweating” required… as the overnight temperatures did drop below the 20 marker! But I gather it’s on the way back…

Hi Cathy, the weather has been a bit THIS (rain and storms) and THAT (heatwaves) here too! Too much of THAT for me. I don’t mind a bit of THIS now and then to keep the lawns green and the gardens water but too much and I start to get antsy! I had never heard the LazyBones song before but both versions are quite a bit different aren’t they?! I’d like a bit more of a slower pace of life right now but not possible. Hopefully eventually! Thanks for linking up with #WWWhimsy and keep on enjoying a pottering and cup filling week! xo

Sounds like a nice relaxing start to a new year! I have actually been incredibly busy but am still behind on everything! I’ve been helping a friend clean out and pack for a move, so all my stuff is left undone – but I am SO glad to be able to help her.
Changeable sounds like our weather here in the east coast of the US, too! 20’s last week and 50’s today. I could do with more sunshine, though.
I am late with my weekly blog visits this week, but thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to comment and introduce yourself. I LOVE the photo at the top of your blog and your blog’s tagline. Nice to “meet” you!
