Those in between days…………..

I’m talking about those precious days – the days that start with the most precious of all,  Christmas Day and end on New Years Day.  To me they are inbetween – between an ending and a beginning.
The days when the house has been cleared of all the holiday excess – the visitors have been and gone – some reminders are still there – but generally life has slowed down to almost a crawl.

Peace

So far this year there are memories of a quiet Christmas Day picnic by the river at Buxton.  On one side the Little Steavenson River, behind us the mountains, families playing and having fun at their gatherings in the park along side.

Melting moments

There has been the feel of really hot days when I thought the little snowmen as well as the kitchen window sill flowers would melt
Those have been the days of us just being lazy, listening to the Boxing Day cricket test on the radio, books and drinks at hand.  Marvelling at how quiet the neighbourhood is and of course having Kiera close at hand.

Warm sunny days

Of course we haven’t lounged around all the time – there have been slightly cooler days
some things must be done 😦
This is what I class as healing time so
Food has been simple leftovers – housework basic.
If it’s not necessary it doesn’t get done lol
Blowing in the wind

And so it goes.
The New Year will be here soon and it will be back to reality.

How do you spend those ‘in between days’

Hello Hello Hello

Yes it’s me again – home just in time for Christmas.  And look at the weather, hot hot and more hot.  Thankfully not humid tho!

So to tide us over till I’ve sorted all the ‘snaps’ (remember that word lol) out here’s a couple of Fun Friday articles/jokes to keep you going.

The first is courtesy of our inbox and the second one is from Tilly’s blog The Laughing Housewife.  She’s just finished a challenge which has lasted 1001 days (143 weeks) involving jokes – some of which have been corkers.  Not sure what she’ll be doing soon but it’s bound to be interesting.

POLICE WORK CAN BE ENTERTAINING

Recently, a female police officer arrested Patrick Lawrence, 22-year-old white male, while for.nicating a pumpkin in the middle of the night.

The following day, at the Gwinnett County (GA) courthouse, Lawrence was charged with “l.ewd and lascivious behaviour,” “public indec.ency,” and “public intoxication.”

Lawrence explained that it was when he was passing a pumpkin patch on his way home from a drinking session when he came up with the idea.

He stated he stopped the car thinking – You know how a pumpkin is soft and squishy inside, and there was no one around for miles–or at least I thought there wasn’t anyone around,

I pulled over to the side of the road, picked out a pumpkin I thought was appropriate, and cut a hole in it.

He continued with embarrassment – Guess I was really into it, you know?

In the process of doing the deed, Lawrence failed to notice an approaching police car, and was totally unaware of his audience until Officer Brenda Taylor approached the side of his car.

Said Officer Taylor, “It was an unusual situation, that’s for sure. I walked up to Lawrence and he’s just b.anging away at this pumpkin.

I said, ‘Excuse me, sir, but do you realize you’re having s.ex with a pumpkin?’

He froze and was clearly very surprised that I was there.
.
And then he looked at me straight in the face and said, ‘A pumpkin…?

S.hit……….. is it midnight already?'”

The court (and the judge) could not contain their mirth.

The Washington Post wrote an article describing this as: “Best come-back line — ever.”

Only have eyes for you

A man was dining alone in a fancy restaurant and there was a gorgeous redhead sitting at the next table. He had been checking her out since he sat down, but lacked the nerve to talk with her.

Suddenly she sneezed and her glass eye came flying out of its socket towards the man. He reflexively reached out, grabbed it out of the air, and handed it back.

‘Oh my, I am so sorry,’ the woman said, as she popped her eye back in place. ‘Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you.’

They enjoyed a wonderful dinner together, and afterwards they went to the theatre, followed by drinks. They talked, they laughed, she shared her deepest dreams and he shared his. She listened to him with interest.

After paying for everything, she asked him if he would like to come to her place for a nightcap and stay for breakfast. They had a wonderful, wonderful time.

The next morning, she cooked a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy was amazed. Everything had been so incredible!

‘You know,’ he said, ‘you are the perfect woman. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?’

‘No,’ she replied. ‘You just happened to catch my eye !!

Hopefully I’ll be back in a couple of days – in the meantime have Fun and don’t forget to Live Laugh and Love!

Bye for now

What goes on there stays there…………..

There is an old saying something along the lines that ‘what goes on “there’ stays there’ – well heres proof (at my expense) that that is so true.

Having been to Darwin previously we decided not to do any trips but just pop into town on the bus and have a look around some of the shops.  Lovely idea says me, lets just have a quick cup of coffe and catch up with home as this is our last Austalian port.

Tell me more!
Tell me more!

So looking very casual and hopefully not too much like a tourist off
we trot down Smith Street Mall
in and out of shops not really fancying anything at all.

I think I'll go this way!

Oh look at that says The Golfer – lets take your picture.

Pose for a photo - of course I will.

And another one he says – just as I take off my hat
Not a good move on his behalf.
Voila – a not very elegant, (buggered) pooped out and dripping wet Catherine

Sights to be seen!

This had to be one of the ‘funniest’ things I saw in Singapore last week.

The temperature was over 31c/88f with humidity so high I thought I was going to drown in my own sweat and there sitting on a street corner looking very chipper was the biggest snowman I’ve ever seen lol

and on the other side of the driveway into the Tanglin Mall was none other than his friend Father Christmas aka as Santa!

Crossing the line

20131209-122300.jpg

Crossed the line yesterday so am now officially in the Northern Hemisphere. Had a fun ceremony on the ship for crew members who’d never crossed before. King Neptune came along as well as our Captain and other senior crew members to say yea or nay to a dunking.

Arrived in Singapore early this morning – at the moment waiting in hotel lobby for room – will be off down Orchard Road later to see what’s changed since our lat visit

Still travelling the high seas

20131205-200804.jpg

Here we are in the Port of Benoa (Bali) – this lovely ship has been our home since leaving Sydney and I’ll be sad to get off in few days when we arrive in Singapore.

The sun has shone every day – I’ve eaten much too much – the seas have been kind – there has been some rain – the humidity is very high – but we are in the tropics so that’s to be expected lol

See you all next week some time
Cathy
