(2017 saw ex tropical cyclone Debbie pass through)
In 2017, the existing café on Flagstaff Hill was badly damaged as a result of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie. After finding the building was unsuitable for repair it was demolished in 2019 and concepts were developed for the new building.
In just a couple of weeks I’ll be able to take advantage of this view of Queen’s Beach in Bowen. Just a short walk from our accommodation – 4.5kms of sand stretching from the mouth of the River Don down to Cape Edgecumbe. The very same beach in my header. The one I’ll enjoy for several weeks 😎
I first saw this plain and simple one a few years ago, I found it about an hour and a bit up the road from Bowen………right on the sandy beach at Monte’s Resort. A lovely place to lunch on a Sunday afternoon. They were hit hard by Cyclone Debbie and weren’t open last year……we’ll definitely be making the drive out there this year.
Drive a few hours down south west of Melbourne along The Great Ocean Road here in Victoria and you can see this one set on the shoreline near the lighthouse at Port Fairy – two of my ‘favourite things. right next door to each other.
