It would seem….

See a book recommendation – see if the library have it in stock

Yes, it’s there – but see what they said

Previously borrowed- my first thought was…..but when?
Seems it was April last year but I don’t remember a thing about it 😯

~ ~ ~ ~
So curiosity piqued I ordered it again.
set to with the front of my latest knit.
yes, one of the ‘cabley’ ones I spoke about last time

and began the Robert Harris waiting in the wings
Front finished – a little wobbly in places but not too bad.
Second Sleep’ on the go

My first read by this author. ‘Oh, historical fiction’ is what I thought when I picked it off the library shelf. Then at the end of ch.1 that thought changed to ‘Oh, sci – fi or maybe even something else’. I’m up to ch.9 and to me it’s moving quite slowly but we all know that with some books that could change quickly!

Library reservations must be working overtime – my book arrived sooner than expected. Not just The Sea Gate but 5 others as well!
That’s me sorted for November I think 😊

Why don’t you pop over and see who’s visiting this week

    1. I read The Second Sleep earlier this year and also thought I was going to be reading a historical fiction, after all that’s what I associate Robert Harris with. I prefer his earlier novels and yes I found this slow, unconvincing but also strangely compelling in that I wasn’t giving up on it without knowing how it ended.

      1. It really is an odd book isn’t it – like you I want to know how it ends but am dragging my feet when it comes to picking it up ( I’m determined not to turn to the last chapter- as I’ve done previously with lack lustre books)

    2. Normally (well sometimes after a little prodding/research) I can recall a book’s storyline, not so with this one. I’m wondering if I took it back unread, I do that if it’s close to return by date and I’ve other things to do thinking I’d take it out again sometime in the future. Obviously didn’t happen with this one😊

  1. Oh wow, the blue in that sweater is fantastic!!! And I would love to read that book, but can’t get out to the library so it will have to pass right on by me. Thanks for sharing…

    1. The colour is what drew me to buying the wool Carol. The cable patterns show up so clearly…. I’m thinking about knitting the sleeves plain so the cable detail on front&back can be appreciated more.

  2. You read and knit cables at the same time?! These days I don’t seem to be able to get cabling right even if I focus entirely on it. Love the blue though – that is fab.

    1. Yes, if it’s not too detailed a pattern, this one looks more complicated than it actually is. Lots of k2p1k2 which can be seen and worked in reverse on the other row. They’re nothing more annoying (??) than looking back and realising one cable crossover has gone the wrong way….enough to make you weep.

  3. The same thing just happened to me but it was with my Kindle and Kindle unlimited on Amazon I went to download and it said I had previously read it I had no memory of it but it was from 2016 so I downloaded it again and read it and did not remember any of it so I’m wondering if I downloaded it and never read it

  4. Libraries are the best but sometimes it seems like the holds or requests do all come in at the same time. Sometimes I recall that I read a book but not much about the story line.
