Last days or early ones

Are these the last days of Autumn or are they early Winter ones?

Monday 16 May

Whichever – it’s definitely getting cooler
Soup for lunch is becoming the norm – grainy bread, cheesy crackers, tea and a book

Yesterday was a bit of sunshine – then dodge the showers as I pottered around outside

And sadly a new neighbour has cut down Berts’s beautiful Liquid Amber whose orange red leaves always made a glorious display at this time of the year – sadly they kept the scraggy one whose leaves I noticed yesterday never colour up in the same way

Seasons come & Seasons go – ours is definitely changing. How’s yours?

  1. Lots of oak leaves on my daily walk…street fodder, not in someone’s garden. Somehow this year many seem bigger. I’ll try and get some pics…

Shame about the demise of the local tree…such lovely shade for the summer. Much more natural than a whopping great sun shade of cloth.

    1. Just seen your leafy post…..you’re right….some of them were quite large. Laughing at ‘street fodder’ for a neighbour with a wheel barrow.

  2. It is definitely cooling down here too. And our liquid ambers are a glorious display. I would be very sorry to lose them. Mind you a neighbour has severely pruned his golden ash – which I mourn.

    1. With the shortening days and cooler temperatures the trees are definitely colouring up now. I’m certainly missing the big tree that was in (now dearly departed) Bert’s front garden. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the tree feller there….many other neighbour came out to watch it come down ( and remark how it wasn’t a good way for the new owners to introduce themselves)

    1. Yes Sandra, the tree will be missed. The soup was great and what else is great is that there is more in the freezer

    1. I’m with you on not like tree removal, especially if it’s just ‘because’. I’m not sure how they managed to get council approval because it was a healthy and not dangerous

  5. The days are still very warm here but nights are dipping alomost to single figures. I have started the winter routine of putting coats on dogs before bed

    1. Now I have visions of your nightly routine- Kylie Pjs check, Dogs x 2 (whose names escape me) coats check. Do they clean ones once a week?

    1. That was one of those ‘bottom of the veggie drawer’ concoctions involving a piece of butternut, carrots and other assorted bits and pieces…..it turned out quite delicious
