Pussy cat Pussy cat where have you been……

We had cold and wet and gale force wind in copious quantities last week in Melbourne, we also had days with no power after a ‘ginormous’ storm went through but just before all that happened I did a bit of indoor ‘ techie type’ clutter clearing’…… this time it was sorting out old photo folders (again)
I had a little smile when I came across these two …..I’d read somewhere about taking photos as reminders of items/objects you’ve enjoyed but no longer want/need
So during a previous ‘clearing out’ blitz, that’s just what I did.
Took photos of these two very large almost brand new mugs that had spent a lot of unused time in the cupboard….. just before I passed them onto someone else 😊

I’ll keep the photos a while longer – not to remember the mugs – but as a memory of the recently departed friend who gave them to me.

In the cold of the very early morning I’m enjoying my first cup of tea and thinking of my ‘darling B’ ……she who lived such a gentle life, and left this world in a gentle sort of way. Settling down for the night, not waking in the morning – just as she would have liked. Quietly peacefully at ease.

She talked continuously about ‘ feeding the heart to nourish the soul ‘, introduced me to the concept of loving kindness and all it involved, lived a lifestyle practising what she preached many years before it became trendy. Gifting to me gave her as much joy as it gave me.

She had many friends who appreciated the quiet peaceful life she led, her ‘going away party’ was small and simple, limited by restrictions…..
but there’s another ‘friends as well as family’ gathering being planned for later….where she’ll be the centre of attention as we celebrate her life 😊❤️

  1. I thought of you in that ‘weather’. We had snow and wind and torrential rain forecast. We got grey, damp and chilly days.
    B sounds like a truly lovely person. I am glad that she got to leave the world gently in way that many of us would love to go.

  2. I take photos of the kids baby clothes and all those things that we just don’t need but I loved so much. Much nicer to think of them going somewhere where they’ll bring someone else joy. Glad not too much damage from the storm – you guys have had it so rough! And very sorry about your loss. #Lifethisweek

  3. Hi Cathy, coming to you from #lifethisweek! You are on the right idea to rehome old unused items! I’m sure everything has a memory but we can’t keep it all, right? I’m sorry about your friend, thank goodness for a peaceful passing.

  4. I’ve been watching all the damage in the Dandenongs. My cousin lives there and had their home badly damaged. Good to hear that you’re safe. I’m also trying to find homes for my bits and pieces. Time to clear the clutter.

  9. Great post, sympathies on the loss of a dear friend but such joy she must have brought to so many lives to be remembered so well. And better to have loved and lost her then never had that sunsine in your life at all. We hope the storm clean up is fast and efficient. Xxx F & Mr T

  12. What a lovely idea to take a photo of something before you pass it on. Those mugs are gorgeous my daughter would love them. lol She has 3 cats…That storm was nasty Im in Albury we got a taste of it as it passed over Victoria. From our back yard when the clouds are gone we can see Snow on the mountains. We were trying to figure out which one I think it might be Mount Selwyn..but who knows..One of my friends had no power until Sunday Morning from the storm. Deepest Sympathy on the loss of your friend.

    You may not cling to the mugs, but you will to the memories.

  15. I am a memory keeper and my photos are my preferred means too. I am so sorry about your friend. I did read and see of the terrible weather you have all been through…as if COVID was no enough for the poor Vics! I hope things come good soon.   17. Feed the heart to nourish the soul is a good mindset to have. Also, I’m loving your idea of taking photos of things you give away, to still have them!

  18. Sorry about the loss of your friend. It’s a nice thought that she didn’t suffer and passed peacefully. Objects I own always remind me of the people who gifted them to me.
