Cold and wet at 7 am when I opened the curtains this morning…….still dark so nothing to be seen except the shiny surfaces of the cars in the early dawn. An hour later it’s not much better!
Monday , 1 June – officially the first day of winter 2020 in Australia.
I wonder what is in store for us this year.
Hopefully nothing like this ‘poem/carol'(In the bleak midwinter) remembered from my childhood that’s been going round and round in my mind since I got up.
In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan;
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.
If the forecast is to go by, today will be cool – the end of the week not so. But then this is Melbourne so it could be anything!
Whats the year round weather like in Melbourne – this might explain – but 4 seasons in one day is quite often the way it’s described 😎☔️⛱⛈☀️💨

Right, I’ve had my morning cuppa tea now it’s on to my porridge. My Monday looks like it’ll be wet…..what’s in store for you??
We are having the same temperatures but it is spring here.

We have been promised some much needed rain – but it isn’t yet happening.
Cool here. And grey.
Some would say cold and grey.

At least it will warm up ‘sometime’ Joanne. Maybe the change will come with the Equinox!

I’m on the west coast (Canada). I’m with you, Joanne. It’s blasted cold here!

Plenty of time for a ‘warm’ change to arrive Diane. The Equinox will be along soon….it’ll probably happen about then. You can break out the shorts and tshirts in about 3 weeks time 😎
Lovely to see you btw…..hope you’re keeping well….and washing those hands 😊

I’ve been lying low these past few months, as far as writing comments goes! I do read blogs regularly, but inertia hit me hard during this virus episode. But I’m well, thanks!

Across the ditch in NZ, we in Auckland/Northland region just want rain, there are severe water restrictions here. Not because of no rain, truly but because powers to be, haven’t though too much on the infrastructure of a massive over population in our city and surrounds!
Long weekend here, Queens Birthday (not actually birthday of said Queen, but designated a bit like the old UK Bank Holiday) – so today was supposed to be squally and lots of rain – it looked like that early in the day – and then it changed…not exactly sunny but definitely not a lot of rain or windy

Our Queens Birthday weekend is this one coming Cathy. Usually the ‘start of the ski season’…..this year put back for a couple of weeks due to you know what. Not sure how much social distancing will take place after hours when the fun used to start.

Here in the UK we are approaching summer. We can tell that from the forecast max: 25 tomorrow, 15 by Thursday 😉

Sounds like summers I knew as a child. Sit on the beach with all your clothes on.
June is early for high temps though, doesn’t it warm up about August?

And men wearing suits to the beach complete with collar and tie! Yes, it usually warms up from June through to August and often into September too, just after the schools go back (in a normal year).

It’s a bit nippy, cooler here this morning than it has been over the past few days. A sneaky westerly arrived in the early hours…as predicted…right on time! 🙂
