Wordless Wednesday- seen in Waikiki

Seen on TheBus making our way to Diamond Head Trail Waikiki
27 April 2017

I’ve never noticed a steering wheel as high as that – horizontal or otherwise
Or maybe our bus drivers have a different set up

This driver certainly didn’t look comfortable – and wasn’t open to ‘chatting’

Decided it was a bit too hot when we got there – there’s always another time😊

  1. Was the seat just too low? Doesn’t look comfortable. But… if you were on the way to Diamond Head Trail, they probably thought you would just be looking out the window and not notice the steering wheel. 🙂

  2. Hi Cathy, thanks for visiting my blog, I’m going to have a snoop around your later. That steering wheel does look strange, I’ve never seen one like it!

  3. That steering wheel was the first thing I noticed, even before I read your words!!!

Maybe it’s “easier” to make tight turns, with the arms right out, over that wheel? Maybe?

  4. How was the trail? It is hot here in South Florida too.
I wish I was in Hawaii though 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. The busses that used to run along Punt Road/Hoddle Street, the ones that had the driver in a half cabin at the front and carried a conductor, had almost horizontal steering wheels. I just guessed that the driver could get more leverage on the wheel in days before power steering.

  6. Well, somebody definitely put the wrong wheel on that bus, but I can see why the driver wasn’t open to chatting. He probably had to pay attention to what he was doing for sure! I mean don’t you think so? I certainly wouldn’t chat if I had a wrong steering wheel in front of me! Hmmmm…….
