It’s surprising how different the words to a song – the tune – the melody – can sound when sung by various arists.
Take this one – I love you because…..
Writen by Leon Payne

Here is the original sung by Leon Payne
This is Jim Reeves version
And Al Martino’s
And here it is sung by the one and only Elvis Presley
Listen and see what you think – which do you prefer?
To my surprise, I did not like the Elvis one at all. I prefer Al Martino

Not like him at all. And as much as I like Jim Reeves it’s the Al Martino version that I prefer also

Al Martino is the version I remember and like the best. I had no idea Elvis had also sung this.

Jim Reeves has always been a favorite of mine. Have you heard of Leon Russell and do you know that he died yesterday at age 74. If I did Musical Monday I would post him singing. Might post tomorrow. Sad around here .https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=13&v=37dw2r45Xzg

I was introduced to the song through the Elvis version on a LP record and it still reverberates with me.

it’s kind of whispy – and so slow in tune, that is feels quite insincere to me…
