Just wondering………….

It has been a beautiful day today – fine and sunny and not too hot.  Took a ride down the road to the big ‘fatal to walk into ‘cose I’ll come out a lot poorer’ craft shop where they were having a complete rearrangment of departments.  Took us ages to actually find what we were after as the place was totally disorganised – even if the staff did say they knew where everything was lol

Gd1 has finally taken an interest in xstitch so she wanted to find some little kits to practice on.  Didn’t want to look through the enormous pile of easy patterns I have and the offer of aida cloth and threads – this is going to be my learning experience Grandma so I’ll do the choosing.   Found what she fancied and then was astonished at the price.  ‘Told you so’ I ribbed but she took it in her stride and left with a smile on her face looking ready to take on the world (of craft that is!)

Just wondering if she’ll look back in years to come and remember this day??

I’m sitting here this afternoon thinking about the fracas in Ukraine and wondering how far it will escalate.

I’m also sitting here thinking about our next cruise which will be in October and is around the Black Sea.

1 Cruise Black Sea Oct 2014

As you can see two of the ports on the itinerary to visit are Odessa and Sevastapol.

Is it selfish of me to say I’m just wondering if we will actually get to see them or not!

  1. G’day Cathy. Did you visit Spotlight on Canterbury Rd.? I haven’t been there for some time. I like it better than the one in Shepparton. Must travel back down your way again soon. There is a fabulous patchwork shop in Lilydale that I must get back to. Hope the cross stitch is fun for your granddaughter to do. You never know, she may still be doing them in years to come. Sounds like it was a fun trip though. Take care.

    1. Yes thats the one Liz – I’d leave it a little while before venturing in there. Bedlam is not the word – but close to. Wondering if they’ll have a sale of all the stock they have left over and can’t find room to put back on the shelves lol

  2. Just looking a map. Hmmm, problematic, but maybe only one town will be missed. It looks to be a good mix of places to visit.

    1. I thought that too – hopefully nothing comes of ‘the present problem’ but I’m sure the cruise line will find another interesting port along the way if that one is out of bounds

  3. You made a sweet memory, there. 🙂

As to your cruise worries, I don’t think you will have any. All will be calm. Putin is going to get whatever he wants. There is no one in the world, with the balls to really challenge him. At this time in history.

    1. It’s funny Tessa, she’s 20 and never really shown ony interest before so I’m hoping it starts this week. We’ll just have to deal with the other in October.

  4. Sometimes I wonder about the things that I used to do. I wasted a lot of time, I think.

    1. I don’t think we waste time as such Sharon – amybe trying out things that later proved to not be so interesting is the way I look at it. No harm in trying eh?

  5. No not selfish at all, you would think after all this time governments will have learnt and not start down dangerous paths. But it’s we the little people that suffer the concequenences of their political muscle flexing. I’m glad you took you gd to the craft shop and yes I think she will always remember this day xx

    1. We will just have to wait and see how things progress won’t we Angela. Trouble is do we sit by and let others take over without having a word to say about it? Damned if we do and damned if we don’t

  6. I hope GD1 will remember her day with you. I remember who taught me to knit and who taught me to sew and who taught me to hook and braid rugs. ( 3 different relatives). As for the cruise . . . I’m going to hope for the best outcome.

    1. I remember those people as well:)
Her father’s family are not crafty so I’ve been the one so far to get them involved. I know she took mosaics to heart as she used the technique in a project during yr 12
