Visiting friends interstate is fun particularly when they have similar interests
We arrive with goodies I think they will enoy
and often leave with goodies they think we will enjoy.
This time I passed on a couple of books
and funnily enough came home with a couple 🙂
One was Tears of the Moon by Di Morrisey
A very prolific well published Australian author who often writes about Australia but also about Australians living in other lands
One of her ealier releases it was published back in 1995 – I think this particular p/back copy is from about 2002.
The other a very thick older copy of a an omnibus edition
of what is known as the Tradescant Series
Earthly Joys (1998) – The Virgin Earth (1999)
Two novels about a gardening family set during the English Civil War
by Phillippa Gregory
So looking for something new to read last night I picked them up
looked at the ‘thick one’, put it down, then thought I’d give it a go.
It is one of those small sized paper backs (7″ x 4″) with ‘very’ small print
I took a quick glance at the other book
Same there – Same size – Same small print!!
Now I know those eye ops I had earler this year were successful and I don’t need specs but reading these looks like it’s going to be a bit of a trial.
Somewhere in the house are several pairs of those little readers
you know the ones you get from the $2 shops
they might help
If only I knew where I’d hidden them!!
Have ‘you’ had any problems locating things recently??

Ah, yes, we get used to reading the larger print and then there is a juicy novel in that horrible tiny print. Your eyes feel like peeled onions by the end of the first chapter. I am usually hooked or not by the first chapter and decide then if I will finish with the eye punishment.

Last night, I took a clean teacloth out of the drawer to dry the knife I had used to chop vegetables. In my mind, I then hung it on the hook by the Aga, because that’s what I always do. I have searched the kitchen, dining room, living room, the porch and even emptied the dustbin but that cloth is nowhere to be found. Did you borrow it to polish those readers?

Cathy, the answer to that is even worse than just having forgotten where I put it down. When I came to do the ironing next morning, I found that cloth in the basket. I had washed it and hung it on the line to dry with no recollection at all! Too busy or too batty?!!

I use a Kindle now to read books, but still use reading glasses to prevent eye strain. Hope those books of yours are worth your eye strain! Lol.

I am constantly misplacing items. Of course I am also always misplacing my memory:) As far as reading, I use my Kindle and can enlarge the print which helps a bunch. I could not go back to trying to read small print as my cataracts are just beginning and it is too soon for surgery.

I’m still not comfortable reading on the iPad – takes time I suppose. It seems strange ‘flicking’ the corner to turn the page lol

I always have trouble locating my specs. I have to say out loud, “I have put my specs down here on the …… (whatever),” in order to remind myself where they are.

I do that with the car keys to remind me which pocket of the hand bag I’ve put them in. Nothing worse than fiddling around in the car park trying to locate them !

Might take me a little while to get through it tho’. It has 567 pages and is nearly 3 inches thick!! Think it will be one for the seven weeks we are up north later in the year.
